Objective
Social media is directly linked to our youth mental health epidemic. But, while there have been many attempts to change the age of social media citizenship. But in the face of big tech platforms influence, none have been effectively implemented.
Approach
Rather than taking on big tech platforms on their terms, we rallied an unignorable chorus of voices - from parents to politicians - and shifted the conversation from privacy to health, creating a movement designed to create genuine change.
We didn’t just successfully change legislation to help Australian teens. we created a successful blueprint for other countries to do the same.
For the first time, 36 Months has given other countries a viable way forward to take on big tech platforms and protect their teens from the addictive and harmful features of social media. More and more countries are reaching out to find out how they can adopt similar models.
